IROOST1 Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 I am thinking about parting my banshee. would it be better to sell the motor parts individually and then sell the rolling chassis. Or should i wait to find a buyer for the whole thing. Or part every individual piece(dont want to do, takes too long). Anyone have experience? what should i expect to get? Quote

I nearly paid for an enitire cub, stroker crank, lock up clutch, pretty much my whole bike selling the old parts and getting new ones. The only bad part of parting them out is you will have shit left that NOBODY wants and you cant get rid of. I know there are lots of people on here that make some $$$ parting them out though, so its not a bad idea. Quote
fastrthnu Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 If you have a stock motor (not a cub ect) sell it whole w/o carbs and part out the rest. If you have a stroker, cub, billet clutch, cool head, ect youll make more parting it out. sell the front suspension whole, the rear axle assy whole, rear brake assy whole then you dont end up with little crap thatll never sell. You should make at least $2400, but I dont know what you have. I built my whole bike pretty much for free buying and selling banshee parts. If you can get more, save yourself the labor and running around shipping and sell it whole. Quote

NYUK Posted May 13, 2007 Report Posted May 13, 2007 if you are going to part out your own banshee, you will lose your shirt.i buy them at low low prices.i won t pay more than a certain amount for ANY banshee.every nut and bolt sells. i get stuck with nothing.the nuts and bolts always sell 1 st.the thing is you gotta be able to ship the parts quickly. set up is key.if you have no way to ship the stuff it is hard to do.i have done hundreds of banshees. i made money on every one.e bay is changing, tons of deadbeats.fees are high.i don t make as much as i did 4 years ago.no body wants to bid on auctions anymore, they all want low buy it nows.if you are going to part it out on hq , be prepared for 20 people wanting your parts, then 5 people actually paying.i still have parts from 3 bikes ago hq`ers said they were sending payment for and didn`t. Ahh yes, long live the king! To step slightly to the side of this topic, what do you suggest that a person does with their own bike. Is parting it out a better deal or should they sell it as a whole? I ask, not because I am going to be getting rid of anything any time soon, but I can definitely see a time where I will either get bored with this hobby or I will find a girl that I can actually live with and the family thing will sneak up on me. To get back on topic, what is the magic prices that you will not pay more than if you are buying a bike to part it? My guess is $1500. Am I close? Quote

But what should i expect to get from mine? http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z208/ir..._0504KI0004.jpg i have 2100 into it, would i get that back or not. I sell shit on ebay all the time, shipping is not a problem, i take(steal) boxes from work and the post office picks up right from my house. which place is the best to part it, ebay or hq? also, back to the first question, do it whole, semi part it, or every nut and bolt part it?
