side_fxxx Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I just purchased my banshee and it was all stock when i bought it. I was riding it all stock around the house but not for a real long period of time. Now friday i installed my toomey t5 kit and jetted the carbs like the manual said (280 jet and the new needle on step 4). I rode it around Friday and saturday for about 30 min each day to make sure it was ok for today. Well today taking it out to the trails for the first time coolant was dripping out of the overflow at a pretty good rate. even after letting it cool down it didnt take long for it to start coming out. is this a common issue? I was getting ready to change the coolant out is there anything to look for maybe a clog? Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 first off 280 main jet sounds too small. whats your elevation? what is your mod list? sounds like it may be getting hot, due to main jet being too small. have you really opened it up and done a plug check? those jet recommendations arent worth a fuck. you need to jet it to what your bike wants because every bike is different. side_fxxx Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 im in western ohio i think is around 750-1000ft. mod wise is just the T5 pipes and toomeys airfilter. I did not cut the holes (12) in the airbox due to not wanting water in the engine. i will take my plugs out what should i be looking for? Quote
BansheeKid15 Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I saved this from a while back, its good because it is very comprehensive on jetting/plug chop info. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html Quote
side_fxxx Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 (edited) im going to try moving the needle jet down one more. think my half throttle on the trails is what caused this. the full throttle out on the farm showed no overflowing from the 280 main jet. i cant remember but it seemed like the needle jet toomey gave me with the kit was longer than the stocker... anyone know if thats so?
