ban1 Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 ok decided to run with the 34mm kehins insted of the 28mm makunis. i feel it better to have top end and a bog at the bottom than to take off real good and lean it out on top end. i feel the porting is the probable problem with this thing, every thing else looks good and it shouldint need jets bigger than 520 in the 28mm makunis to get a top end. my mods are cool head w/18cc domes, bills pipes, carbon reeds, vitos superstock pistons and porting(dont know anything about the porting that was done) i have 140lb compression in both cylinders i live at 2500ft and the temp when we ride is usually around 80. when i wes running the 34mm kehins it had a real bad bog at bottom end and just crusing at about 1/4 throttle it would make a kackleing sound like maybe it was rich. i have 148 mains and 35 pilots and dial a jets. needle in middle position and runs strong on top with dial a jets open all the way. so do i need to go to a smaller pilot change needle position or what. is ther any way to tell how much porting has ben done, because i dont know what a stock one should look like. thank for any input ken Quote
dajogejr Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 PM or wait till WesW gets on here... He's got a lot of experience with 34PJs...can probably at least get you started...if not damn near dialed in with those. Quote
kawiking Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 i just went to littlesahara oklahoma and had my shee dynoed, i knew i was alittle rich with the stock 152's dropped it to 148 and it was still rich . i ended up dropping it down to a 140 and it ran alot better.all i adjusted was the mains.i live in texarkana, texas so at l.s. i was a tad richer. im going to but 142's back in and run it and see how they feel here at home. look at my profile motor not much, do have a drag port. i pulled a 53 with cpi out of frames with the 148 in ,changed to 140's and put fmf fatties on and pulled a 58. Handyman Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 I would try a 42 or 45 pilot. and clip in 3rd position air screw out 1-1.5 turns Quote
