EastCoast Banshee Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 Got bored today so i went on a polishing spree and painted my bumber and clutch cover inserts with truck bed liner. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 It looks good, way better over stock black. I like that alot!! I might have to steel your idea & give my covers that flatt blak look! Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted May 2, 2007 Author Report Posted May 2, 2007 Thanks man. I will say that it takes a little more work but doing the kicker makes it look that much better. Pretty tempted to do the foot pegs and foot brake now. haha. Quote
RagunCajun Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 What did you use to polish that up? I was going to look into an aftermarket cover but this really looks nice and it's cheap  Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted May 6, 2007 Author Report Posted May 6, 2007 Use aircraft stripper to get the paint off the cover or have it sandblasted. After that hit it all over with some wet/dry sandpaper like 2000. Then take a polishing wheel with some compound and keep doing that till your happy. Kicker was another story though used a angle die grinder with ro-loc disks and sanded the shit out of it till it was all smooth. then polished till i got it like you see it. Quote
RoostRocket Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 looks good man!!! what kind of bed liner did you use on the clutch cover insert and bumper? Quote
RagunCajun Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 Thanks for explaining EastCoast Banshee. I will go the sandblast route with it. :woot: Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted May 7, 2007 Author Report Posted May 7, 2007 looks good man!!! what kind of bed liner did you use on the clutch cover insert and bumper? Dupli Color shot from the auto parts store. did like 5 coats on the pumper and 2-3 on the inserts. make sure if you put it on plastic you scratch the fuck out of it so itll stick. Quote

BansheeKid15 Posted May 8, 2007 Report Posted May 8, 2007 I have used Jas-co stripper to strip the entire car thats in my sig. it works fine you can get it home depot for pretty cheap. Its like a bronxe looking can with darker red lettering. Just brush it on, wait a couple min and it will lift anything right off the surface Quote

casper Posted May 15, 2007 Report Posted May 15, 2007 Damn, looks nice..How long did that take to polish out? Quote
EastCoast Banshee Posted May 15, 2007 Author Report Posted May 15, 2007 Longest part is getting the paint off. takes maybe 2hrs of hard work to get it off. i might have not done it the best way i got the spray on stripper. After that i just started polishing with a 4in wheel on a drill. Took about 2 hours or so but im sure if you have all the compounds and a bench grinder set up for polishing it would go way faster.
