ban1 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 had 34mm keihen flat slides on that were to big,got some 28mm makunis and cant get it right. ive got 27.5 pilots and had 300 mains in it and had a bad bog at 3/4 throttle all the parts stores are closed today so i drilled some other jets out with a 1/16th inch drill bit and it was better but still not wright, so i drilled them out again with a 5/64th inch drill bit and its better yet but still not wright . still have bog up top but the plug is light grey at top and black in the bottom.doesnt act like its rich. my mods are cool hear with 20cc domes vittos superstock pistons, carbon fiber reeds in stock cages, mild porting bills pipes and uni pod filters mounted in a box. please help thanks Quote
Yaxy Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Your bog on top is probably because your main is to lean. Light grey is not where you want to be, light tan is. Go up on the main a couple of sizes and see what happens. Also, I am assuming your carbs are clean, in sync and your needles are not bent. Chris Quote
ban1 Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 i thought the darker the plug the richer it is not the leaner it is .and yas the carbs are brand new needles not bent and in the second notch from bottom. runs fine at full throttle till high rpms then falls on its face. Quote
IROOST1 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 have you tried going leaner, sometimes, too rich will bog also. And you said the plug was dark so youre probably going the wrong way. Quote
ban1 Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 but it has gotten better going bigger, the bog isint as soon with the bigger jets. plus with me drilling them out with a drill i dont know what size they are (can anybody tell me about what size they would be with a 5/64 in hole) thanks for the input Quote
ban1 Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 forgot to ask if its bad to have wet greesey stuff running down from the exhaust flanges, the left side is leaking more than the right side. i did a compression test and i have 140 in both cylinders Quote
Yaxy Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Typically, if you are rich the bike will spit and sputter, smoke alot and may even follow plugs, not bog. I have two shees which are outfitted with 28FS mikunis. Both bikes are ported yada yada yada and I run 20 pilot jets on both. The shee with FMF pipes run a 270 main and my RZ shee, with Rockets run a 340 main. Both bikes use the stock airbox with the PD filter kit. So i am not sure how the Bill's pipes flow but at least this gives you an idea on the range that is possible. Still I think you are lean. Go up in size. Chris Quote
ban1 Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 thanks chris i am off tomaro and i will try to get some bigger jets. not sure what size to get becouse like i said i drilled some old ones out with a 5/64 drill bit so i need to figure out what size that would be. thanks fore the help ken Quote
ban1 Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 if the floats are set to low would that cause this problem. havent checked that just wondering. Quote
