woodwardspecialties Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 Ive never had a fee for no cardboard. Ive sent tires, a bumper, and a set of plastics that way with no fee. i am a UPS shipper, i have a UPS daily pickup... they get you with a charge back to your account, additional $5 if not encased in cardboard... get one of the UPS shipping manuals, it has it in there.... I send tires for like 25 bucks, and they have never told me anything about that 5 bucks. Maybe the store I go to forgets or something. Im not going to tell them though! LOL Quote

platinumjason Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 So USPS has no problem taking some tires/rims just stuck in a plastic bag and tapped? Any clue what the shipping price usually is on a set of rims and tires? Quote
theshee Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 So USPS has no problem taking some tires/rims just stuck in a plastic bag and tapped? Any clue what the shipping price usually is on a set of rims and tires? I sent a set to Denver for 22 bucks and a set to Connecticut (SP?) for 28 bucks. The ones I got in a garbage bag were just wrapped in about 3 bags, taped up and sent. Quote

bones Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 I didn't know any type of wrap was required. I've shipped 35" truck tires and atv tires with no wrap or box, no extra charges. Just slap a label on them, paid cash at the UPS place and off they go, they weren't even taped together. Quote
theshee Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 Its not required, but I like doing it for who bought the stuff from me. Mainly if there is rims, I would feel like an ass If I send some tires/wheels and the wheels got scratched up because I didnt have them wrapped. Thats why I do it. Quote

That makes sense, I was thinking just tires. Never shipped wheels though. Quote
