01blckbansh Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 just got done riding my banshee. pulled the plugs and they look perfect. i did notice the left pipe has some discoloring . it's onlt the first 6-8 inches of the pipe. it's only the left side. is this normal? this is my first banshee. sorry if it's a stupid question. the pipes are fmf fatty's. MILO Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 most pipes will show some discoloration within that range when first used if they are new from the initial heat dispersment. if the discoloration goes much farther, or if it suddenly changes and gets worse after the initial discoloration, it may be a jetting issue. running too lean may be excessively hot and turn your pipes and cause other problems also. you may want to double check your jetting, just to be on the safe side. Screaming Yellow Zonker Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 It is normal to an extent. For me I figure it is cheaper to buy new plugs than pistons so I tend to run a little on the rich side. Plus it keeps the temps down a few degrees. How big of a jump did you make on the jetting when you put the pipes on? Quote

How big of a jump did you make on the jetting when you put the pipes on? i have 300 mains, 27.5 pilots, bored .20 over with vito's power pistons, vito's reeds and reed cages, clamp on k&n's, boost bottle, and fmf fatty's and power core 2's. we just rebuilt the top end. we jetted it for the pipes. then i put them on. is there a way to get the discoloration off? Lethaface Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 I've read on the blaster sites that if you tape off the new pipes and spray some high temp paint on the inside it will prevent the blueing/discoloration.. Quote

I tried that didnt work. I had to get a new rh side toomey expansion chamber and i didnt do it to the replacement and they both blue the same way. Quote
