chugger Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 My current setup is vito's mono block 404 with a stock stroke crank that is welded and trued. 35mm air strikers pod's v3's with stuffers and a boss intake i am in the process of another motor build which will be either a 10mil with a 68mm cub with a drag port or a 4mil long rod with the super cubs with a drap port.. I am about about 500 ft above sea level. i will also eventually convert to alky prob before the build of the next motor. i want a good set of pipes i ride in open fields and open roads so manily drag with the occasional hill climb. the only trails i ride on are the ones to get to the open fields so lowend doesnt really bother me. I want to get a set of inframes but nusure on the brand cpi's, shearer's or rockets and also with the cpi's and shearers should i get a bb or sb. help will be greatly appreciated thanks chris Quote
bansheeboy02 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 I have cpi inframes sb. I love the way they run. lowend is great but topend is ridiculous. sb pipes go from 350cc to 430cc. I think sb's would be great for your current set up but you would need bb for the 10 mil 68. Quote
gipperz Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I have cpi inframes on my 4mill and love them but..............................I've been told there is a new pipe coming out soon that might be the hot ticket. I'm holding out for some feed back on the new pipes until then I'll continue to use my cpi's. Good luck on your choice, its a tuff one. gipperz Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 wait another month on a new pipe to come out. ive personally tested them and they ran hard on my 10mm cub. i expect them to run hard on 4mm motors and even stock cylinder ported ones... Quote
'04limited Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 what is this new pipe you guys speak of? who's makin them? im gonna be lookin for a top end pipe soon.. im gonna get some port work done. Quote
chugger Posted April 11, 2007 Author Report Posted April 11, 2007 what is this new pipe you guys speak of? who's makin them? im gonna be lookin for a top end pipe soon.. im gonna get some port work done. Id like to know what pipe as well. I am really leaning towards the shearer bb's cause this winter will be the bigger build i am leaning towards the 4mil with the super cubs. i will be switching to alky in the next month or so. So whats the deal with this new pipe or is it underwraps until its released. Quote

I think sb's would be great for your current set up but you would need bb for the 10 mil 68. If you think top end is good on a CPI...you should try a Shearer... IMO...don't waste your money on a super cub. They aren't worth it yet. You'll have to get new reed cages, a different head, etc. As of now, with EXTENSIVE porting, they're making a few HP and a few ft. lbs of torque over a std. 68mm bore cub. So, they cylinder is more $, the porting costs even more $... Just get a 10 mil 68 bore. Just get a clean up port.... IMO...it's not worth the money to drag port a cub. Tyler, can't believe you're holding out on me. I'd love to try this pipe on my new 10 mil....might change my mind about not buying Big Bore Shearer inframes.... Hook a brotha up!!! Quote
SoCalinIt Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I have the Shearer small bore pipes on my 421, and I love them... Loco, we are all waiting?!?!?! LOL Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 well, i didnt get to get the pipe on the dyno but from the seat of the pants feel they ran hard. i rode my bike with my rockets on, then immediately switched over to the new ones. the new ones had as much or more bottom end but on top pulled harder and longer than my rockets. i was very impressed. the power came on really fast and never stopped pulling. i was bangin gears on pavement goin thru 2-4 and it was wantin to pull the front right off the ground. i didnt notice this as much with my rockets. as for the pipe builder...its Tom Borrink. he contacted me back in january about testing his new pipes since he knew my brother and i both had original rockets they he built. he sent me his test set to try out. they do have a distinct look and most def resemble rockets. they sit further up on the bike tho and the petcock and plugs seemed a little easier to get to. that shit never really bothered me tho anyway.. if you gotta check plugs all the time you got bigger problems than getting to your plugs..i talked to him yesterday and hes about 3 or 4 weeks out he thinks on releasing the first 10 sets. heres all i got for you.. rockets new pipes Quote
dajogejr Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I'd love to try a set of these on my 10 mil. My biggest problem with the original Rockets was fit and finish. I put them on my stock port 96....probably not the best pipe for a non-ported stock motor. Ty...can you get me in touch with him? I'd love to talk to him...and try a set out. All I have for my bike right now are CPI out of frames/silenced. Shearer hasn't cranked out any new Big Bore inframes for some time...everyone is waiting on them. I'd really like to stick to inframes... I could arrange for some dyno time if Ron wanted to let me test a set out, maybe a poorly welded or cosmetically incorrect set..... not being able to check plugs easily is a bigger concern for me...running on alky. 06BaNsHeE Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Looks like you have to take off the pipes just to change a plug Quote
SoCalinIt Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Loco... When he gets that first 10 sets out, let me know. I'd be down to buy a set. They look really good. Quote

When he gets that first 10 sets out, let me know. I'd be down to buy a set. They look really good. i think he told me the first 10 sets are already sold or spoken for..but he is keeping me updated on the status so ill let you know as soon as i hear something. he told me he wanted to get these first 10 sets out, then build a bunch of sets so hes got some inventory and not building them as orders come in.
