alf44 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) So i took my shee out for its first ride after putting on some t5s and air filter. Jetted it with 330 mains and 30 pilot seemed to be a little sluggish when i hammer on it and bogs down a bit when i hit fifth. Also the bottom of my pipes are turning blue and kindof goldish. Ive heard this happens but i didnt think it would happen in a couple of hours of riding. Is my jetting of? Plugs looked slightly dark not white and the were clean no gunk. Thanks for any input. Edited April 2, 2007 by alf44 Quote
racer Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 heat does that to steels and other metals. definitely nothing to judge your jetting by. Quote
pokeatyou2 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) whats your elevation and what other mods are you running is the airbox lid on or off? it just that 330 does sound a little large but the only way to tell is with a plug chop also. with out porting 30 pilots is large to how many turns out is the air screw? im only using a 27.5 with porting Edited April 2, 2007 by pokeatyou2 Quote
MILO Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 hey bud, you need to take this to the jetting and exhaust forum... jetting is really finicky. i have 370 mains in mine now. every shee is different depending on location, elevation, mods, etc. it takes what it takes to get her tuned in right, even if it seems high or low to others. go by your plugs, and performance in different ranges to tune your own to what it likes. my pipes blued when i first put them on also. it was way lean. i was told to go with 290's or so to be on the rich side and ended up at 360's till the plugs looked good after a chop. luckily, my pipes were the only thing to suffer from it. bansheeryder_69 Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Blueing on the pipes is noting. My KFXs new yoshi pipes did it and my new raptor 700 just did it too. It just what heat does to some metal. Nothing to worry about. nothing to worry about until the whole pipe starts turning color. then you really need to reconsider your jetting situation Quote

crbanshee Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 that is 100% normal, the pipes should start to blue right away. my fmf fatty's started to blue within 20 mins of running them the first time. it has nothing to do with jetting its heat. example take 1 pipe off the bike and apply a flame to the inside of the pipe where it conects to the head, it will start to blue the instant it starts getting warm. put it back on the bike and watch the other pipe, by the end off a good solid day of riding both pipes will be almost the same amount of blue in color and area of the blue.. its when they are not starting to do that that you have a problem. or if one turns blue and the other doesnt. if you dont like the blue on the pipes they sell some polish that helps remove the blueing. i have never used it but i hear it works prety well Quote
alf44 Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 Cool thanks guys i appriciate the help. I think i will downsize my pilot one size and main to a 320 thats what most are using around here. Sorry for not posting this in the exhaust and jetting forum my bad Quote
