Pipe to silencer question

Ok, this could be a dumb question but here goes....

 

I had a set of Gnarlys going to FMF PowerCore2 silencers. The Gnarly pipes slid inside the flange on the silencers. The fit was tight enough I didn't need to use any type of clamp.

 

Now, I'm going to be running PT High Revs and want to keep the same silencers. Only problem is the end of the PT and the flange on the silencer is the same size. Do they just butt up together and get clamped somehow? I can see this being the case since once mounted in place neither the pipe or silencer really moves much.

i would think you need to get the pipe into the silencer pipe..
