Between a few of us on hear I am sure that we can help you get your bike going. Quote

I believe I have good compression because the guy I bought my motor from had it rebuilt with about 5 tanks thru it before I bought it. It has all new gaskets and stuff so I dont know how I could of lost compression. Edited March 18, 2007 by 96_banshee_96 Quote
FireHead Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Man I have no clue how to check any of that. I believe I have good compression because the guy I bought my motor from had it rebuilt with about 5 tanks thru it before I bought it. It has all new gaskets and stuff so I dont know how I could of lost compression. We can probably help with that too. To check for spark, remove a spark plug, make sure it's attached to the plug wire, touch the end of the plug to a metal part of the bike, and kick the engine over. You should see a spark at the end of the pluc when you do this. To check for fuel, open the screws on the bottom of the float bowls. If gas starts to come out the nipple by the respective screw than you probably have fuel. You need a compression tester to check compression. They can be had fairly in expensively at an auto parts store. Some parts stores may even rant them. The theory behind this tool is that you screw it into a spark plug hole and kick the engine over. It then reads on a gauge how many pounds of pressure the cylinder holds. For now, we can assume that you have good compression. First, chck and see if fuel is getting to the carbs. If it is, then check tp see if you have spark. Hopefully, it's one of those two things. Let us know what you find and we can tell you where to go from there. Quote
AnCieNt1 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 make sure your key is on and switch on the bars is on run.. Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 make sure your key is on and switch on the bars is on run.. That might be my problem right there I dont have a key switch or any switch on the bars that says run. I have a theather. Quote
FireHead Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 That might be my problem right there I dont have a key switch or any switch on the bars that says run. I have a theather. Can you describe how you have that all wired together or possibly take a picture of it? Did you checkk to see if you have spark yet? Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 (edited) Its hard as hell to describe. Pretty much there is a red cap with a wound cord coming off kinda like a phone cord this I believe is the leash. There are 2 small wires that come off the cap they are red and white and they are also cut, doesnt sound right but this is how I found it in the box, it was attached to the handle bars like this. Then there is a medium sized black wire with 2 small wires coming out they are also black with the ends stripped off. The medium sized wire with the 2 small wires coming out of it runs down from the handle bars at the clutch side to the little rectangle area infront of the gas tank. By the reactangle area I mean where the clutch wire goes and wires from the harness go and it is kinda located where the front of the gas tank rests. From there it looks like it is tied into the harness somehow. I could not get a good look to tell you for shure because I put my gas tank back on today and in michigan it is cold as hell at night and I am going to wait untill morning to take it off. I also did not check for spark I will do this first thing tomorrow when I get up. I have a kodak v550 camera but when I was taking some pics for a HQ member of the engine I recently sold it took a nice dive off my computer stand when I was loading the pic onto my computer so it is currently at kodak getting fixed as we speek. If I have a teather should I still have a key box w/key and switch or does the teather elminate that. I noticed a few open clips on the harness by the coil and caps they look like the big one you use when you plug the motor into the harness. Sorry for the long post I tried to describe it as best as I could If it doesnt make sence when you read it read it very slow a second time and you might catch on to something  Edited March 18, 2007 by 96_banshee_96 Quote

Sorry for the long post I tried to describe it as best as I could If it doesnt make sence when you read it read it very slow a second time and you might catch on to something  If somebody went to the trouble of putting in a kill switch (thing with the tether) and you don't have a stop/run/light switch or a key, it probably safe to say that your problem is somewhere around that switch. If wired in correctly you won't need a key or a run/stop switch. The fun part is, that thre are far more ways to wire it incorrectly then there are to wire it correctly. I suspect when you get after it in the morning you will find that you don't have spark. Once you have checked spark, let us know what you found. It's mildly unfortunate that your camera is in the shop, but I think we can work around the problem. To get a bit of a head start on the problem (as said above I am assuming something is wired in correctly) you may need to come up with a Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM). They shouldn't be more than $15 at an auto parts store or Radioshack if you don't have one or cannot borrow one. You will be using this to check continuity of the electrical circuits as we work through the problem. I will make sure and check this thread tomorrow morning and evening. I am supposed to go play with Bansh-man during the day tomorrow so don't be worried if I don't get back to you right away. Quote
dajogejr Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Contact machwon, he's Bob of R&B racing on this board. I'm pretty sure he's around Saginaw...just outside of. Bob's a nice guy, very affordable and a straight shooter...!! Quote
96_banshee_96 Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 Just went out and checked for spark. I laid a wrench across the cylinders to make shure it was getting a good ground with no paint on it. The right side sparked did the same to the left side and had spark. Both sides sparked. Now what should I do? Quote

On a positive note, it great that you don't have an electrical problem as that waas probably going to be the hardest type of problem to fix via the internet. Quote

Also I adjusted the lick start some because before I wasnt getting a good kick also had to give it a lil gas before it started up. It was smoking does it do this untill it warms up some. Quote
