I got this thing cheap! its been melted down, had no clutch, and no tires.

well when i decided to look in to the clutch I took off the tran cover and the oil that came out looked like 90 weight, and made all the clutch disks stick together. the friction disks are good and thare are no heat scores on the plates

SO I was wondering whether to clean or replace the clutch disks? and what oil to add when i get the dang thing together!

When in doubt, change it out.

On the other hand, if the parts look to be in good shape and measure out to be in tolerance via whats printed in a Clymer manual, then you should run them. I might soak them in some clean oil before you install them though.

I was assuming that the oil he was referring to resembled a 90 weight hypoid gear oil (the stuff that smells really bad and has the consistancy of carmel).

Do a search....

No offense, but people are going to tell you tractor oil, synthetic, non-synthetic, ATF fluid, gerbil pooh, etc.

Everyone has their favorite type/brand/weight of gear oil to run in the tranny....

Make sure it's Type F ATF. There is a big difference between that and the Dexron/Mercon ATF types of fluid.
