3 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 Ok i already know that a stock front shock is 14,5 inchs long. My question is can we play a bit with that, can i put a 15 or 15 1/4 inch long front shock on a none LT a-arms? Will it work and just sit a bit taller and/or sag a bit more? Quote
Duner440 Posted March 7, 2007 Report Posted March 7, 2007 I am not an expert on this but I would think that if you put a longer shock on stock a-arms it will make the front end sit up higher which wear out your ball joints quicker. Just my .02  Quote
3 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 I aint no expert either  but for sure it will make the front end sit higher. What i really want to know is if its going to work good with a +2+1 a arms set. Any expert or someone who tried it??? Quote

3 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 Half an inch or 3/4 of an inch is not a lot if you put it on this long of a a arm, you are sure that it will damage the ball joint?? Quote
Duner440 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 If you put a longer shock on your stock length a-arms, the ball joints will wear faster. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 any longer shocks on stock arms will cause the bike to sit higher and cause balljoints to wear prematurely. you really need a +1 or +2 arm setup with the right shocks to get the full potential of the setup. Quote
Ducman Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 There are a lot of people running YFZ 450 shocks on banshees, they are longer than stock and do make the front end sit up higher. They are not as good as getting a aftermarket shock valved and sprung for your specific a-arm length, weight, and riding style/type, but they do work prety good especially for heavy riders and cost 1/3 of the price of aftermarket fully adjustable shocks w/tripple rate spring. They are very stiff for the stock a-arms, works good for me at 270#'s, and pretty good for most people on +2 a-arms. Quote
3 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Report Posted March 8, 2007 Ok thank for all your replys guys, i guess i will try these 15 something inchs shocks if i can get them for a good price. Nothing like trying by ourself  Quote
