bgbeards Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 I am building my banshee right now and ride almost exclusivly in sand dunes(Glamis, CA). I was thinking about going with pod k&n's with outerwears. Will these be too exposed for the sand. Any other ideas..... Thanks. Quote
theshee Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 That would be the perfect filer for sand. Only thing, I wouldnt buy K&N brand filters. You can get off brand ones WAY cheaper and they are just as good. Quote
FireHead Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 The next time I need filters I think I am going to try the UNI pods with outerwears. I am not satisfied 100% with my K&N's stopping all the sand. The last few times that I havbe cleaned them there has been sand inside the filter. Quote

I have K&N's / outwears but I'd like a second set to switch back and forth too ... TIA ~DaVe Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 FAST Website says they got the off brand $20 ea which is what i ordered but when my box came in.. They turned out to be K&N. Also Fram has their brand called "Airhogs" haven't looked into them yet but prob work. A friend said these are the same size as Volkswagen Bug filters. So I assume VW Airhogs will work. K&N pods work fine in the sand. Look where your carbs sit. After removing your whole airbox assembly you'll see the pods will be tucked in right above the engine. It's going to be pretty hard to kick sand in there + outerwear. You'll be fine. K&N is what i run, Glamis is where I ran them last week & happy with the pod setup. Go for it! Quote
bgbeards Posted February 25, 2007 Author Report Posted February 25, 2007 Thanks for the info..... Looks like I'll have to get some K&N's...... Quote
BigRed350x Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 K&N Pods for sure. If you are really worried about getting sand in them I've seen people put womens nylons over the filters, then put the outerwear over the top of that. Just be sure to keep your outerwear away from your pipes. Makes a hell of a mess. Quote
theshee Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 Pm majicmike, he was filters like mine. They are just as good as K&Ns. If they were stamped K&N nobody would know the difference. He has outerwears too... Quote

He has outerwears too... I think it was last month's dirt wheels mag that advertized a Magic Racing deal. I think $90 bux for the two filter, outerwears & coolant bottle bracket. Their website didn't show this deal though, only in the mag. Quote
FireHead Posted February 25, 2007 Report Posted February 25, 2007 K&N Pods for sure. If you are really worried about getting sand in them I've seen people put womens nylons over the filters, then put the outerwear over the top of that. I used to to do the womens nylon thing under my Outerwears. One day I put one of my filters on the flow bench with that setup on it and then without the nylons and there was something like a 100 CFM difference. It's probably not a big deal as most filters have more than enough air lofw capacity to accomodate most people's motors, but I didn't like it so I stopped doing that. Quote
