Recently stripped down my shee to the frame to have it powdercoated. Prior to doing so, everything worked fine. Just got it pretty much back together, started it up to make sure everything ran ok. Anyway, the clutch wont disengage. Pulling the clutch in does nothing. So i adjusted it, and adjusted and so on, well still no luck. Any ideas? Worked fine before tear down, but not after putting everything back together. I never took the cable off at all. Shee sat for a good month and a half from start of tear down till now.

Did you tear into the clutch, how far tore down did you go? Could be the adjustment on the press plate. Could just be the plates dried out. Probably a few other things too, but I think those would be most common. I'm sure someone else will give you a slew of stuff to look at. GL

Didnt tear into the motor, trans, clutch or anything. Took the whole motor out, and set it aside. I was kind of thinking maybe the plates dried out also. The temp around chicago here the past month hasnt been to to warm, actually its been rediculously cold. Could that play a part?

is the cable routed the same way, that can throw off the adjustment big time . just from one side of the bars to the other or any small changes like that could do it.

 

 

I think I routed it the same way as it came off. The marks on the cable and the case are pretty well lined up.

The clutch arm isn't getting caught on the bottom of your carb is it?

 

 

No, but i got it figured out. Turns out the clutch discs were dry and stuck. Started bike up in nuetral, gas about 1/4 throttle with clutch in, droped it into first, and then it worked. Freed up the clutch and allowed it to oil again. Works fine now. Thanks for all the help!
