jesse1004 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I see a guy has a 1-4 override tranny for sale. Is this a drag only tranny. I do trail and mx, would this override be suitable, why or why not? i "bought" one from lsrasixshee a month ago and still have not recieved it. Dont worry its being taken care of. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Absolutely NOT. If you do MX, I wouldn't even get a "Dunable" override tranny.... This tranny allows you to shift from 1-4 gear without using the clutch....but, you HAVE to pull the clutch in if you are not on the gas....and can not allow the tranny to slow the bike down or you will trash the shift forks. I wouldn't even use a "Dunable" override for MX, you have too much to concentrate on for the track, rather than worry about what gear, clutch use, etc.... Even with a Dunable, which supposedly allows normal shifting up and down, still is a bad idea. Quote

locogato11283 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 for trail riding and duning youd want either a 2-4 or 2-5 duneable which allows you to shift up and down with or without the use of the clutch... Quote
wesw Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) if your doing a lot of jumping and stuff i was told you dont want even a duneable. unless your really good with the clutch. some thing about landing super hard and gears jumping. not sure on it but that was what i was told yes i know loco does it but i was told by a tranny shop this info. also your not suppose to downshift without a clutch on a duneable shit i wouldnt do it on any tranny but thats me.
