Root_Doc Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Ok guys, I am relatively new and think that I understand the whole jetting concept. I live in Louisiana 70 degrees. Stock carbs. stock reeds. 40:1 klotz. T6 pipes and the toomey boxless airfilter. First question is :Is the pilot jet on the toomey kit a 27.5? and I used the given 280 main. yeah right. lean as hell on a plug chop. so i bumped to 300 then 310 still showing very white on the chop. oh yeah 2 turns out on the air screw. Do I go to 330 or do I check something else. BTW, it runs very well through all ranges. The bike has only had 3 tanks of fuel run through it. Very new. Please Help Quote
dajogejr Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 I've done quite a few T5 banshees, and their jetting is similar to a T6. Put 340s in and try that. The Toomey kit I got had mains and needles only, no pilots. Without an airbox, 27.5 will be just fine. However, I know you can turn the air screws in almost all the way to work in a pinch (.5 turns out) but...really should have 27.5 in there. 340 to 330 is probably where you'll end up. I got in an argument with some guy on another site...does your jet kit say to use the 280 main below 2500 feet, WITH the airbox REMOVED, using the 1 into 2 foam filter? Mine did...he said BS. Told him 280s were lean on a no airbox motor, he said the directions said 280 in use w/ the airbox and vents. Quote
biggun6ss Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 I run T6's with K&N pod filters. I live around 3200 ft and run 330's. A 280 was way too lean. Quote

I really appreciate the clarification. On my directions, they do not claim a difference in Mains with or without the box. That doesn't make sense. I guess since I have you guys, it doesnt matter what the instructions say. Thanks again Quote
