psu Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 I rebuilt my banshee t5s open air filters 330 mains. I ran my banshee for years with no lid k&n and 320 mains and t5s. I ride in the isd of socal, it ran great. Then with out warning it dies, no comp, pull plugs holes in both pistons, no loose of coolant. Any reasons why, I am lost. thanks psu Quote
dekker Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 U said no loss of coolant but could ur impellar be busted or melted??????? Quote
letsgetthisdone Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 Holes in both pistons tells me you were WAY lean. No coolant flow wouldve just siezed it. Have your machine shop check your bore, you be able to get away with a hone intsead of going the next size up on the pistons. Quote
FireHead Posted February 21, 2007 Report Posted February 21, 2007 It sounds like you either had a big air leak or ran it out of gas a few times. Quote
JET 99 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 sounds like a good candidate for leak down test. if you leaned out because of a seal on the crank Quote
JET 99 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 leak down test...... bad seal or major leak somewhere.. Quote
. Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Are both the holes the same size? It's definitely a lean/detonation problem you are having. If both pistons have holes, chances are you have 2 air leaks, or your fuel is bad/low octane? Isnt it hard to get holes in both pistons from just one air leak somewhere? The crank bearings kinds keep the cylinder flow separate dont they? Quote
dajogejr Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Check your squish and compression...that can detonate a motor real quick. Need to make sure your running enough octane, too...and a quality oil. Odd to put holes in both pistons, normally one goes before the other... Leak down check, etc... Your jetting doesn't seem that far off, but, I think it'd be wise to go much richer on the mains, as well...360ish or so. What kind of oil were you using and at what mixture?? Quote
