High elevation jetting. 4500 feet

Planning a trip to sand mountain NV for the first time. I need some help with carb jetting/tuning.

 

I have a 2004 Banshee I bought used.

 

Toomey T6 pipes with toomeys jetting, 280 I think?

K&N pod filters

VForce 3 reeds

 

I am curious as to where I should be on jetting and such for 4500 feet elevation.

 

 

I also did some searching here and it seems that I may be a little lean with a 280 at 59 feet elevation.

I think the jetting you have now will be pretty close, if not a hair lean for 4500 feet.

at or near sea level, you should probably be around 320 to 350 on your mains.

No one can tell you the exact jetting, we can just go on the averages of our own experiences...

You're going to need atleast 350 mains in it here.Sand mountain is steep and long wide open pulls and the mountain will eat a engine really quick with the wrong jetting.I run 370's in my 05 this time of year and go down to 360's in the warmer months.My brothers 'shee runs 320's in it with pipes and pods only,And despite what people say you need to jet up with v-forces.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I have some work to do. I am surprised I need to jet up that much. I figured I may need to go up a little. It seems that toomey should supply larger than 280s with their pipes. I will get hold of some jets and see what it does.

dave i have pretty much the same mods as you.t6s k+n pods vf3s i also have my timing advanced 3 degrees and a noss head with 20cc domes on a 05 shee. i live in southern utah 5600 ft elevation but ride from about 4000 or 4500 up. sand hollow, coral pink and delta ,sand mountain or jerhico what ever you want to call it. never been to nevada. i run 280s and its jetted perfect just checked my plugs again tonight. i think your pretty close where your at do a plug chop and go from there i check mine anytime i do a mod just to be safe. im thinking your temps are going to be higher there so that might make a little difference

Dave your're probably going to be in the 320 to 330 range.Toomey only supplies up to those jets because they are only checking jetting with there pipes only no other mods.

I would think the 280's would be pretty close. Do a plug chop when you get there and let us know.

I went down and got some 310, 320, and 330 jets today and ill play with those a little. I have an awesome girlfriend and she surprised me with a set of skat trak haulers, billet impeller, Fast racing clutch, and shift star today for my birthday Looks like ill get to add some more to the mod list. :biggrin:
