okbeast Posted February 9, 2007 Report Posted February 9, 2007 If you were stayin with stock pipes and just putting the K&N on with the lid off I'd think maybe a little lower then 250, more in the 230-240 range...but I've never tuned w/o pipes so...just make sure to do a plug chop when you jet it. 04limitedshee Posted February 9, 2007 Author Report Posted February 9, 2007 What would be a good brand for just playing around mostly on dirt road's and trail riding. Also a reasonable price. Quote

04limitedshee Posted February 16, 2007 Author Report Posted February 16, 2007 (edited) Have a little problem . I just installed my K&N with no lid on the air box . I rejetted the carbs from a 200 to a 250 . The problem is that it really bogs when you first bump the throttle . Also if you rev it up a little and hold after about 20 seconds it wants to die off , almost sounds like ite running out of gas . The tank is full there is plenty of gas getting to the carbs . Not sure where to start now . Also I adjusted the air screws in and out with no change . If I put the air box lid back on it helps a little . Any help would be appreciated . I looked at he jetting info from last post , Thats why I went with the 250 jet . It says up 4 for K&N and up 1 for air box up 1 for snorkle being removed . That should be a 260 but I figured I would try a 250 first . The bike is all stock except K&N and No lid Thanks In Advance Edited February 16, 2007 by 04limitedshee Quote

Try turning them both in all the way, then turn each one out half a turn. Start the bike, warm it up...go for a ride. Turn each air screw out another 1/2 turn, wait 20 seconds for the new setting to take effect, go for another ride. When you get the highest idle and best throttle response off the bottom, your air screws are set. Next check the sync in your slides....adjust them with the idle knobs on top the tors... I'd say 220 main or 230 main you'll be fine. Mains have no effect on performance until about 3/4 throttle... Quote
