sled Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 ive heard that big bore kits are a bad idea with the stock jugs, is this true??? a friend gave me some new jugs with sleeves that are boreable to 380 i think. i was gonna use them, but im not sure yet. im trying to build a good running banshee thats not gonna have problems all the time. i dont wanna run race gas either. i ride coal mines and some MX. i plan on taking it with me to the dunes too. im just trying to build a soild engine. also if i use these should i buy an aftermarket crank?? lastly are the long rod kits any good?? just trying to plan out what im gonna build. any info on this stuff would be great thanks guys. Bansh-eman Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) you can get a big bore kit put in your jugs... it should be fine ... most people on here say dont bother becasue they are using the motor for darg racing... if that was the case then i would be smarter to get cubs... but you said your riding mx so a cub is 100% wrong motor for that... either way you got aftermarket or stock crank have it trued and welded! and as far as the long rods go ... they do nothing for performance, a long rod makes the angle that your piston is at when your motor fire put less stress on your crank bearings connecting rods ect... on a stock jug without a bigbore sleeve installed you can go over .100 but thats as far as you can take it without busting through the walls Edited February 8, 2007 by Bansh-eman Quote
sled Posted February 8, 2007 Author Report Posted February 8, 2007 so the big bore kit is not a bad idea to throw in there since i have it and the long rod kit is just to help take some stress off the crank. am i getting this right?? Quote
Washburn Posted February 8, 2007 Report Posted February 8, 2007 Yeah, the 4mil crank with long rods do all of that and improve ring seal at higher RPMs. You say your ride MX and Coal pits it wouldent be a bad idea to get a lowend port when your ready to get mass power probably peaking at 9000rpms with the stroker kit.
