nm351 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Ok guys. I have an '89 shee that I bought about two years ago. The previous owner said that he had put a new heavy duty clutch in it right before I bought it. The problem is the clutch pull is veery stiff compared to my '99. I am curious if it is something I can fix by putting in a new clutch and springs or if there something else I should be looking for. Maybe something that is more serious. The pull has never gotten any harder but it is definently not any easier. Quote
yamaha04 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 when the guy put the HD clutch kit in he probably put all 6 HD springs in, what iv noticed is alot of people on here just 3 HD springs and 3 Stock strenght springs. Quote
theshee Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Get a nice new cable. Cheapie cables make them hard to pull... mine is like butter on my shee, and the cable made it even better! Quote
nm351 Posted February 6, 2007 Author Report Posted February 6, 2007 Tried the new cable didn't do anything. Also tried lubing the old one first. Quote
csrmel Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 you probably have 6 heavy duty springs installed. the clutch its self (plates discs) shouldnt really effect the pull of the clutch levre. buy a set of stockers. then try 3 stock 3 hd, if its still too stiff try all 6 stock. at this time it would probably be a good idea to pickup a pancake bearing. sence youre in there anyways and all.... dont forget to ajust the clutch nut and lign up the 2 arrows on the output shaft. dajogejr Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I agree...alternate the clutch springs, 3HD and 3 stock. Do NOT overtighten them (I think it's 7.5 ft. lbs of torque) Get a brand new cable, get a new perch to remove the parking brake garbage, get a block off plate, and get an ez pull lever. I put a brand new clutch with 3/3 springs, new cable and EZ pull lever on my buddy's 98. Nice and easy, like a 125 dirt bike almost!!! Run some WD 40 down that new cable before you put it on too.... BLUE STREAK Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 a cable helped me a lot. I took a grinder to the stock perch to get rid of the E brake. watch what you use for cable lube. some will collect a lot of dust and it will work in to the cable. not good I use graphite or just run them dry. Quote
