can som3eone tell me if the stock stator will push a set of hella 500's if i pull off the stock lights? i think i read on the box that the 500's use a 55w bulb......anyone had any experience doing this?

They should still work fine except they wont be as bright as they could be with more watts behind them. I put a set of 55w lights on mine with the stock stator and had no problems.

Stock stator is 100watts max output at like 6,000rpm. Your gonna be running 110 watts with the 500's. So, I say no, wont work.

your lights will look like there is piss in them and be very very dim... your cdi will take the amount of juice it needs to power the ignition and then what left over will go to your lights...

The ignition side of the stator is in no way connected to the lighting side. You will never get the hella's to be bright though, you will be constantly loading the stator and even run the risk of melting stator wiring down on the case.

umm thanks for that info.. :shoothead:

like said your ign. will get the power it needs... then the left over power from what ever size staor will power the lights.. and being that theres is about half the juice they need they will look like there is piss inside the lights cause they will be yellow, and very very dim...

Kinda what I was thinking and told him, boys...thanks for the backup.

I'm terrible when it comes to electrics and wiring though.

Do you think that a pair of 35W bulbs would be better...or should he get a 200W Ricky Stator?

even with 35watt bulbs your running your max output... the stator doesnt have a strong consistant output... so your power fluxuates. id say get a bigger stator that can power all your electronics and have extra power so when you fluxuate your not underpowering your shits
