I tried to find some info before asking,. and all I could find is that running with what toomey supplies with their exaust kit in average 85 degree weather at 200` and lower above sea level would be bad. SHould I buy the kit w/o jetting and get something bigger than 280? all I have now is up to 270. anyone in FL running T5`s? I dont wanna get 4 skits tryin to figure it out. So far all stock other than tors elim and open box.

if youre still runnin the box 280's will be fine. if youre still running with the stock filter then 280 will be a bit rich even.

im in florida and look in my signature for my mods and jetting.

NO. Although they make a great pipe, anyone will tell you that their jetting is off if you switch to the 2:1. I was dead scared when I checked the plugs in my bike after installing my T5's and the 2:1. It ghosted a set of used plugs. What kind of temps and humidity are you running in FL about now? With that 2:1, T5's and nothing more, I would baseline you at about 310-320. Toomey (Dynojet actually) needle on the third clip from top, and the stock pilot, probably .75 out on the air screw. That should get you in the ball park, depending on what you are running for temps right now. When I run my bike at the Oregon Dunes (sea level) during the summer, about 65-75 degrees, I run 340's with the mods listed in my sig.

yea Im at sea level too,. but the humidity is usually around 70-95% because Im right off the ocean,. plus the temp most of the time is between 80-90 degrees. I figured I should use a 300+ main, but IM not to knowledgable on this subject yet. Ill probley try about 320 right out first.

That will give you a good starting point. The big thing people misunderstand about jetting when they first get into it is that they think that it is an exact science. Jetting is more about dialing something in. You really have to get in the general area and then start letting the bike tell you and show you what small changes to make. Based on your info on temp and humidity I would guess you to be about 310, but 320 is a wise start. Each bike is different, so you could end up at 330, it all depends on what the bike, plugs etc. show.

heres a quote right off toomeys website concerning t5's and their 2:1 filter kit.

This is the final carb setting check list:

Needle on the 4th groove

#280 Main jet (sea level, #270 for hot days or high altitude <2500')

Float setting = 21mm

Airscrew at approx. 1.5 turns out from full in. (Effective range .5 to 2.5)

Standard pilot jet (#25)

These ARE the right settings! If it's not running right, IT'S NOT THE CARBURETORS!! It's in the installation! (you did it)

seems simple enough to me. i dont see why you would recomend to him to run the bike so rich when toomey has done all of the jetting work for that kit and figured out the right jetting.

If you've actually run it you'll know why. Toomey "recommends" the same jetting for both the modified airbox (with 6-12 inserts) as with the 2:1. I guarantee, and can speak from experience that the 2:1 has much higher flow capabilities than even a modified airbox. So, the simple fact is that you can run those 280 mains, and it will run as hard as it will ever run, but not for long. Hopefully someone else who is running this setup, and there are lots out there, will chime in as well. Recommendations are just that, but experience with that exact setup tells me much differently.

Don't ever listen to the companies....2003 is dead on.....330 mains, needle 4th clip, stock pilot, adjust the air screw to throttle response...this is for either the 2 into 1 box, or stock box w/ no lid or modded lid..sea level and 70 degree temps.

I agree 100%. Don't listen to Toomey on their site about their jetting. I ran my BONE STOCK motor with either pod filters OR their 1 into two foam with outerwear, it made no difference in my jetting, but I was at 330 or 340 main with them.

I guarantee you....unless he's at 4000 to 5000 feet, 280 with no airbox will be lean and that motor will melt. Guarantee it. I have jetted quite a few bikes with T5 pipes and no airbox.

The Toomey site says use the 280 main for less than 2500 feet ( I think) and 270 for over...

Sorry...anyone tuning a banshee knows that anything larger than 1000 to 1500 feet change in elevation at the same temps requires a jet change....

CSR...if 280's are fine, why are you running 300's in yours?

when i first got my 03 i bought t6's with the 2:1 filter. i put it together and checked my plugs. everything showed lean so i richened it up. i do have quite a few friends i ride alot with who run 280's, no lids, & t5's in temps from 20 degrees to 100 at about 600ft. the second i'd go out at 20 degrees and lay the hammer down on 280's i'd be walking the rest of the way no doubt.

Here was my last jetting set up w/T5s, k&n, no lid, +4 timing, stock porting, 300 ft elev, 50 degrees temp.

350 mains

needle in the middle

stock pilots

It was a little rich, but it couldn't be touched by any other piped Banshee I ever ran.

Long story short; I disagree with Toomeys recommendations also.
