snedden9485 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 hey guys, the guy at the atv shop told me the best set up for my banshee with a K&N was to retain the stock cage and cut the foam off and cut the cage off. He said u then silicone the thing on (and bolt it in there) and a oval shaped K&N will fit great. He has a UMI racing kit but reckns it is round and doesnt fit the airbox as good as the standard adapter? is this the go for the set up? thanks for the help chris Quote

The intake is to sensative to dirt, sand, or water getting in there and silicone is not the best glue. If you want to keep the airbox with or without the lid its best to go with the prodesign adapter and the oval k&N filter. If you can do without the box then the best setup would be the k&n independent filters. Shop around and check your options. Dont rig it, a small error could cost you alot. Remember to rejet. Quote
bansheefreak Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 you need to get a prodesign adapter plate it will bolt to your box and make a tight seal plus give you a nice ring/lip to put the k&n on with a clamp... will look like this but with a k&n http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Bans...sspagenameZWDVW Quote

yamahauler Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 make sure to bolt that cage on and seal it if not using the lid i found out the hard way that the lid holds the filter in place ouch Quote
Mullet Man Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 http://i16.tinypic.com/48n7dw9.jpg thats what i use. proflow foam with hacked up airbox and a precharger. the proflow is nice. you dont have too worry about ripping the filter to carb boots because of the extra weight and movement they see with just pods. you can usually pic them up cheap on EBAY. i got mine for $10 because it looked like shit. little cleaning and it was good as new. bought 4 stainless allen bolts and nuts, drilled it out and and mounted it. i wouldnt buy one new tho. way too much $ Quote
