Hello, I am a new member to this site and I am seriously considering buying a Banshee either this Spring or Summer. I am not positive that i will buy a Banshee but after riding one the other day and then riding somthing else i think it will be hard not to. Before I start looking though i was wondering if there are certain years that were better than others. Like if some years had better suspension or seemed to work a little better. So far I have looked at a 1996 and a 98. I liked they way they both looked but should i buy never or older? Help Me Out Please. Any Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

First off welcome to HQ, great place when looking for help. Banshees are all about the same. The first year was a J arm, and after that they were a arms. I think they are all the same from 89 to now, so any of them would be great. There may have been an electrical change in 96 but im not sure. Any year shee you get you will like. They dont stay stock for long, so any year you can get a deal on go for it. Either the 96 or 98 you looked at would be good if they are in decent shape. Good luck and enjoy your shee when you get one!!!

Because of laws in California, when searching for my ride I had to make sure it was a green tag [ride all year long] vs red tag [can only ride seasonal]. So you might want to inquire about that.

P.s. Welcom to BHQ where, you made the right bike choice

87 to 89 are the J-arm style. Only things that changed after 90 were electrical connectors and color. Unless you are looking to build a dragger you probably want the a-arm style..... Both the 96 and 98 you mentioned fall in this category.
