jet mech Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I just bouhgt an '06 SE it was born 12/30/06 and I was wondering if sticking a set of $700 pipes on it would give me much or would i have to go all out with everthing else Quote
man27 Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I bought my 03 in 04 and my first mod was pipes and it was like flipping a light switch it was like it was another bike, all you need to do is jet and tune the carbs and your ready to go. Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 yeah a set of pipes will give you the best hp gain per $ pretty much. Just buy an aftermarket air filter set up and take the snorkel off the air box also. Quote
baddsheee Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Pipes yes, but spending $700 on them, I don't think so. T5's from RMATV run for 5 bills new. What kind of riding you gonn be doing? Quote
samdust Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 toomey is good i like them alot better than fmf and all the other ones. sound pretty cool to Quote
jet mech Posted January 11, 2007 Author Report Posted January 11, 2007 I will be just horsen' around on farm ground, some trails and little sahara once a year Quote
samdust Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I will be just horsen' around on farm ground, some trails and little sahara once a year i do the same kind of riding and t5's are good look into them Quote
dajogejr Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I say find a used set of FMF or T5s. Since you mentioned horsing around on a farm and a once a year trip to the dunes, I'd say FMF. Porting is the best HP dollar per dollar...but, pipes are a "prerequisite" for sure!!! Quote
scooter Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 probaly the best mod you can do. most people buy pipes first realy wakes the shee up,then your hooked and the sickness goes on from there.i would think you could find some nice toomeys t5s or t6s for a decent price for sure less than 700.00 Quote
moneybags Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) Hear you go. Now please send my $100. J/K lol http://www.rockymountainatv.com/productDet...mp;navType=type Edited January 12, 2007 by moneybags Quote
nm351 Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 Just go for it. The pipes are totally worth the plunge.   Quote
MILO Posted January 14, 2007 Report Posted January 14, 2007 pipes are absolutely the best 1st mod to do. as they said, shee really comes to life with anything other than stock pipes. it just depends on your riding style as to what kind you get. anything will be better than the stockers though. you won't get the full effect of any other mods without having better pipes to let her breathe a little better anyway. of course increasing air flow, like removing the snorkel, or the lid altogether and a better filter, along with proper jetting changes will really wake it up. these changes alone will give you much better performance without even touching the motor itself. kb7kuh Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 (edited) The first thing I did when mine was new was go with a set of FMF fattys with turbine 2 silencers, removed the air box and went with K&N pods, and removed the TORS setup and went with the idel screws mod. It made a big difference. Of course that lead to ported cyls, cool head, and boring out .020. and on, and on, and on...... to end up with this..... Then, I gave 300' drag racing a try. Bad idea, that lead to this.... Oh well, it's only money  Edited January 15, 2007 by kb7kuh Quote
Animalman294 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Yeah, its modding a car or truck, whats the first mod most people do, open up the exhaust, because all other mods will be choked down baecause the air can't get out of the motor fast enough............. I really like my T-5's, which are a good all around pipe. The T-6's are good if you do not plan on doing any mods to your motor other than the pipes. The T-6's were designed to work really well with relatively no other mods. My dad runs the FMF pipes and I like my T-5's better........... Quote
