6speed Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 My buddies quad, we pulled the airbox and put pods on, @ 500ft above sea level , cold out right now 30-50 just depends on the day.......we put 240's in it first and he thought it was fallin off on top. The next step up that I had on hand were 270's, put them in and he says it's a little better but still not the top end he was hoping for. Personally I think it's as good as it's gonna get with stock pipes, I was thinkin we should drop back to the 240's and maybe raise the needle (it's at stock setting now). What do you guys think? baddsheee Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Do a plug chop. And there are some guys here selling a few sets of used pipes for good deals. It's worth the coin. Quote
dajogejr Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 He might get a 2 to 5% increase in performance just by removing the airbox with STOCK pipes...doubt he'd even feel that little increase. Put some pipes on...now you're talking... I'd remove the TORS if you haven't already, and make sure the carbs are sync'd properly, too... Quote

I'd guess you are close with the 270 mains. My first stab at it would've probably been 260 and raise the needle a clip. It should make a very noticeable increase, but like others have mentioned, keep your eyes open for some pipes. I've bought chrome T5's that were in decent shape for 175, and some FMF Gnarlies for 100. It's well worth the money over the stock. Quote
