bentvalve Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 hi i just got my banshee i don't think there is much done to it(yet) the guy i got it off of said it had been recently rebuilt.it looks as if the only thing realy done is a boost bootle, fmf gold series pipes and i don't know what pipes are on the back,a full skid(except the rear skid is stock) and some renthals..lol. anyway where to start? would or should i just get a front and rear seal and bearing kit, and new tie rod ends( feels like the left wheel has a little play in it). i only paid $1600 for the bike it looks good, and i was assured that it was worth quite abit more.anyway i have always wanted one of these bad a$$ machines. i just want it to be reliable, as i trial ride. oh yeah i was thinking about the 2into1 intake if you have one you need to get rid of im in the market if price is right. i started it(it cranked right in the 16 deg weather here(there was one at yamaha shop that was leaking everywhere(beat the hell up that took a while to fire up) so im thinking i did good steering clear of that.i know that the choke is messed up a bit you must hold it out while kicking(thats a pain in the a$$. well let me know what you banshee gods would start out with. i am looking for a rear skid plate,2into1 and what ever is involved with that mod, prob reeds and cages? thanks for any inout don Quote
JET 99 Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 if you plan on keeping it awhile invest in a good compression test set..... craftman makes a real nice set that has the correct fitting you need 60-70.00$ the choke on my stock carbs were the same way.......... timing, compression, pipes and reeds are best power adders for starts.. carbs, porting and evrything else are good after the basics.. dont forget about your suspension it sucks and no one here will tell you different. my motor is out right now getting cyld ported, case ported, bored, crank bearings, true&weld crank, new pistons, rings, clutch, shift shaft&spring,intakes,v3's,33 carbs, nology coil&wires. thats the motor new easy pull clutch handle, trail tech light set, throttle cable, acerbis hand guards, kill switch tether its easy to get into it but you end up working alot of overtime to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! good luck  ps................ loose the boost bottle bad mod do a search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JET 99 Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006  looks pretty solid..................... you will be suprised once you start with your mods....... axle looks stock, you might want to check your seals and bearings in carrier..... check your compression that is a good indicator of condition of motor..... check tranny fluid see what it looks like when you change it...... might pop off water pump cover check your impeller for cracks........ if frame is straight, no cracked joints in frame or a arm tabs, shock mounts i dont think you did bad on your purchase. they are cheaper here in the midwest versus west coast...... Quote
bentvalve Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 do you happen to know what the rear pipes are there are no stickers. yeah one of the first things i want to do is all bearings and seals, and maybe the 2 into1. thanks for the info.. don Quote
