the banshee clutch is a wet clutch system.......therefore you cannot drill a hole in the cover or you wll loose all the gear oil...

you have to drain the oil and pull at least the round center cover off (the one you asked about drilling)but its prolly just as easy to pull the whole side cover off

Even if you could drill a hole and use some type of a plug so the oil wouldnt drain out it would have to be one hell of a hole. You have to loosen the nut to get the screw loose for the adjustment.

You could buy a cover made for a lock up clutch with a removable window that allows for the removal of the clutch pack w/o taking the whole side cover off. That is the same idea you are going for. You might try cutting a large hole in the cover under the yamaha logo vibration damper and make a gasket so the cover seals the hole. This might work better with an aftermarket all aluminum cover cause the stock cover is plastic.

I drilled and tapped threads in my cover and took a bolt and cut it off so it only had enough threads to thread in flush with the inside edge. Put teflon tape around the threads any time I would put it in or take it out. Worked great. I could get in there with a 12mm wrench that I bent and ground down to fit in the hole. Worked geat, no complaints.

It can be done, and works fine, but you will have to seal the plug some how, the little black o-ring that goes around the side case insert won't seal the oil in, it will drip down the side of your case.

I did the same thing, though I used a button head bolt with an o-ring groove and an o-ring. I had to relieve the decoration disc on the back side with an endmill so that everything would wit together properly.

Of course that was many moons ago. Now I have a Direct Drive lock up cover which is a much better. :ninja:
