alisn4x4 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 im over at my buddy's shop reassembeling the bottom end of the motor. anyone have any tips, suggestions to make the rebuild real smooth? anything you guys would do to ensure good sealing and such? ill be heading out to the local shop too to pick up some gear oil. what do you guy's suggest i use for it? (its gonna be a mild dunes bike with some mod's.... porting, pipes, carb, timing etc.... possibly looking at around 60-75 hp when all's said and done.) thanks. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 as far as sealing goes just put some yamabond or what ever it is your uing on both case halfs all the way aroung and in the small parts in the middle and you will get a good seal.. i use gearsaver 80w its pretty easy to rebuild... just go through the clymers and you will have it... csrmel Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 seals, bearings, gears, anything that moves should have a lite coat of oil on it before you seal the cases together. Quote

You want to pack that groove with waterproof grease. Also I clean the mating surfaces of the case halves down with contact cleaner or grease remover and a q-tip. Most guys probobly think its overkill, but I like to make sure the yamabond will adhere well. It's just like preping something for paint, imo. Quote
