thegroup Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 i need some ideas on how to keep that fucking clip from coming off. its fucked me asobut 3x now. Loco had a post about it a few weeks ago but i cant find it now :wallbash: :: also, the idea im on now is just taking bailing wire and twisting it on tight. Quote
BigRed350x Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Are you using OEM circlips or ones you are getting from a hardware store? They ARE different. Make sure you are using OEM and make sure you are using the special OEM washer in there too. If your idler gear has any side to side or wobble movement, the brass bushing inside the gear is shot andyou need to replace that. If the gear moves any at all, it will just wobble around and walk the circlip out of place eventually. Quote
thegroup Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 FUCK! that must be my problem then (the wobble) i was using all OEM washers and the clip. looks like im going to have to price a new one tomorrow then :: Quote

It rides on little rubber bushing kinda things that will give it a little movement in the rotational axis. Any movement of any of the gears other than that is a no-no. It might be cheaper for you to just get the idler gear new than to try and replace the brass bushing in it. Quote
thegroup Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 ya, i just priced one for 46 at bikebandit.com. at 1st i thought the bolts that hold the back of the basket together backed out (had just put the basket in the night before, and ive had the bolts break loose even with red lock tight) if it aint one thing, its a fucking 'nother!
