Banshee_19 Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Ok so here's the deal. I am starting to gather up the parts I need to do a Complete engine rebuild. I will be doing crank seals, pistons and such. I was wondering what are all the parts I will need. 2 crank seals, Wiseco 0.020 piston kit ( currently have std bore), Yamabond for putting cases back together, v-force reeds( what are the purpose of reeds?) timing plate, carb re-build kits. I am also gonna do a clutch while I am at it so I guess I will need a basket aswell? All of my current mods are listed below. Any other ideas for mods while I am doing this would be awsome? Now I am looking for a good place to get my parts from? not sure what places you guys like to get yours. Hope someone can help me on this. Its also hard to find people around my area in Canada that will shave flywheel or weld my crank. So that is kinda out of the picture as I don't want to send things out. Thanks. Quote
kubiac3 Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Im doing a complete engine rebuild right now and this is what i suggest doing... -buy complete engine seal kit -complete engine gasket kit -top end kit of your choice, .20 over is good. -check and make sure the crank is good, - clymers manual (first thing you should get) -yamabond 4 (not 5) - clutch kit (comes with plates and all that stuff) If your shee is rather new which it seams like since your at std. bore, you probably dont even need to split the cases and you can just do a top end rebuild. You also probably dont need a new clutch basket, just the plates. You should get a new clutch cable too if your going to do the clutch, and take off the parking brake while your at it. You can get a clutch basket, and all that other stuff at www.magicracing.com, its a local store by me and they have everything basically, i got a billet clutch basket for 150, as compared to the hinson one which is like 200ish. Banshee_19 Posted October 5, 2006 Author Report Posted October 5, 2006 Thanks man. I already have a clymers and e-brake block off. I have to split my cases cause I have a crank seal gone. Lots of smoke out the right side pipe. Also its a 2000 and I am the 3rd owner so i have no idea what has or hasn;t been done to it so. Quote
