bajabanshee Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Hey guys, I am about to install some new pro x pistons and had a question. The box came with two rings and some other smaller circular hexagonal ring looking thing. The box mentions something about a oil control ring. Is this it and do I need to install it. I didn't notice this part when I removed to stock pistons. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 you should have one ring for your piston and 2 circlips.. 2 strokes dont have oil control rings those are on 4 strokes..hence the reason we have premix... Quote
bajabanshee Posted October 2, 2006 Author Report Posted October 2, 2006 I have a set of piston rings for each piston, circlips and and this extra thin hexagonal ring thing. It about the same diameter and thickness as the piston ring but it's not perfectly round. It's like they took a piece of flat wire and bent it every 1/2" to make it into a ring. It's probably nothing that I need to use but I want to make sure. Quote
gumby6t9 Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 I'm thinking that they sent you the wrong piston kit. Do the pistons look correct? Have you ever rebuilt a motor? Quote
bajabanshee Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 (edited) They are definitely the right pistons. This flat wire ring will only fit on the bottom ring postion and not the top. I am wondering if it might be some kind of tension spacer that goes in between the ring and piston. I've never rebuilt a banshee before but have helped out on some other bikes Edited October 3, 2006 by bajabanshee Quote
