platinumjason Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) First off I assume it didnt blow up and you're just replacing the top end because the compression is low? If thats the case all you should have to do is hone out the cylinders and get a new std bore top end kit. If it happens to have gouges or anything then it will need to be bored. Most usually go .020 over on the first bore but if its not to bad you can probably get away with .010 over. That is if its got scratches or whatever else on the walls. Here is a decent top end kit with everything you need except for the 2 wrist pin bearings. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-BANS...sspagenameZWDVW Also found this kit which has the wrist pin bearings so its totally complete and all you would need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WISECO-ATV-...sspagenameZWDVW Edited October 1, 2006 by platinumjason Quote

badassbanshee479 Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 all the numbers refere to is the amount over stock bore the cylinders are. see when you blow up the top end and pieces of piston dig into the cylinder wall you have to get the scratchs out so the new piston rings can seal. so you take the cylinders to a reputable machine shop or four wheeler shop to have the cylinders bored. this is when they put a cutter in the cylinder and cut the walls till the scratchs are gone then they hone the cylinder to the final size for the new pistons. so how ever much they cut out is what size piston you need over stock. dont know if that makes any sence let me know if it dont and I will try and re word it for ya. oh and you can have the cylinders bored up to like 100 thousadths but I dont like to run them at anything over .080's Quote
kubiac3 Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I would go with stock pistons or any piston that is manufactured over seas. Apparantly over seas they can use more chemical or additive or whatever they use when forging pistons(cant think of what its called, some scientific name), but they can use more over there then here legally. The item im talking of gives pistons more heat tolerance and cause them to not swell when they get hot. Pistons made here dont have as much of this so when you buy them they will fit a little loose cuz they swell much more then pistons made overseas. But overseas pistons will fit real nice and tight. They wont give you anymore horsepower as most other aftermarket pistons will but I think there more reliable. Just my 2 cents. I learned this after I bought a Vito's super stock piston kit, which im happy with, but from what ive heard wasnt the best choice. Quote
