Today while I watched my Detroit Lions get beat by the Packers I started to tear down my shee. Took off the fenders, tank, cooling system, expansion pipes, silencers, and nerf bars. I'll have pictures up later tonight. Next step, I think, is removing all electrical and the whole engine. Once I get the engine out I'm going to take the A-arms to my Dad's body shop and have one of the painters help me with the paint that he says will be durable. I was happy to find out how easy getting this far has been. I have little Zip-Lock bags labeled to keep all my screws, bolts, etc in order and so I don't forget which goes where.

 

For those of you unaware, I am rebuilding the top end, True welding the crank, inspecting the clutch, replacing all gaskets/seals, and painting the frame black. I'm not in too much of a hurry given winter is coming, so this will be a long project.

I think that you will find going back together very easy as well.. Like you I just kept all the nuts and bolts in labeled zip locks and going back together was actually pretty smooth. Keep us posted with the transformation :beer:

I'm doing the same myself, tomorrow all I have to do is drop the swing arm and a-arms...Then the frame is off to get powder coated.......Its gonna be sweet after I get it all back together !!! :yelrotflmao:

I've done it that way a couple times and I've done these things so many times I just throw everything in a pile. I'm pretty good at getting everything back where it goes. Sometimes I end up with 1 or 2 extras and I just stand there and stare at them wondering if they were important or not. ROFL

Not bad for one day, and I really only worked on it for 3 hours or so. Next, I will remove the engine and anything else I see i guess, My question is: should I leave the electrical system on the bike and paint around it, or is it ease to take the whole thing off? It looks to be a bit of a pain.
