nickg Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Ok, I am rebuilding my RZ 350 motor from a box :baseball_bat: , I have some questions for you guys. I need a crank, the motor lost the oil pump and it atew the crank. The original owner (who taook the bike apart in 1984 with 290 miles) tossed the crank out, so i need a new crank. I looked into a replacement unit from the dealer but it was like $900. How are the ones on ebay? what stroker fits the stock cases and cylinders without machine work? I do not anticipate the engine reving ove 11k rpm all too often. any suggestions? the bike has the whole full on Toomey kit from new, pipes, carbs, cylinder porting. Quote

nickg Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 probly had 1 to many like myself , and ment to say water pump. no the rz motors have an oil pump for the oil injection, when it strips the plastic gear...it has no more oil going into the motor...hence it seized. Banshees do not have oil injection. Quote
[email protected] Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 dang i need to get one of these doo dad's Quote
BigRed350x Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Ditch that crap and just pre-mix your shit once you fix that thing. 4mm stroke is the largest you can go without trenching. I'd go stock stroke banshee crank so you don't have to get your cylinders re-ported for the 4mm. Quote
dajogejr Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 If you were going to put it back into a street bike, I'd probably keep the oil injection so you could just pull up to the pump... But, I agree with red. They make an oil injection block off kit for a blaster which MIGHT be able to be used on a RZ motor. If not, you can probably make your own. I would just premix as well!! Quote
Shee-Male Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 the oil pump pumps oil to through the carbs, if you run an aftermarket carb that might have benn the problem. If you wish to get rid of the oil injection, you won't need any "kit", the clutch cover is the same as the banshee, hte banshee just uses a crankcase vent in place of the pump (most of us Banshee guys will notice this in the huge void below the water pump). You can fit the Wiseco hot rods 4mm/ +5mm long rod stroker crank and 795 series pistons with no case mods, but you may have to rework the head, you may want to send a PM to PassionRE he is very fermilliar with these engines and has built some SICK RZ motors. If you want a stock crank, the banshee crank is also the same and you should have no problem finding one on here. Have fun with the rebuild Quote
nickg Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 it is going back in the street rz so I need the oil system. The carbs still use the oil injection set up. I was leaning to a 4 or 5 mm but wanted to know what options there are with cranks as long as they go into stock cases. I would use a spacer plate as needed Quote
