thedurf Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Hey, i got new tires off ebay and they are pretty nice but they were kinda disformed when they got here just because of the way they were shipped. I got them on the wheels but i can't get the bastards to inflate. There is always air getting out. How do i get the tires to sit like they should on the wheel. I tryed blasting them with air before inflating and that wouldn't even work. Anybody got any ideas for me? Quote
csrmel Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 back in the day i would use a wratchet strap around the tyre to squish it so that the beads would expand outwards. give it a try. may take some finaggling and soap suds though. Quote
thedurf Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 i tryed it, it just kept pushing the messed up parts out even more, but i will give it a whirl again. Any other advice would be great, i'm dying to get out again. Finally got the new tires and they are gonna RIP IT UP!!! haha Quote
LiftdT4R Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 If your trying to seat the bead, which is what I'm assuming from the above posts, it's gonna be tough. You need a big ass air compressor and a robe around the cicumference of the tire pulled tight. You could also use the ether trick, which I am not going to post here in the interest of safety. I don't know where you live, but a gas station that has a tire machione should seat a bead for you for abot $5 a tire. Quote
csrmel Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 ether trick doesnt work anymore. i tried it a month ago on some truck tyres. ether doesnt explode like it use to, it just burns fairly quick. i think they changed the formula of ether or something. Quote

Aww no way, yall need some Jersey ether, did it last week upstate, my nephew broke the beed on his eaton 90. Bad trick to do though, I blew a 35x12.5 off both sides of 15" rim when I was doing it once. Quote

thedurf Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 i got it finally, i got the tires on and just sat on them and rolled with my body on them so it all evened out then blasted it with like 100 psi of air to seat them and presto. Now i just gotta find my keys so i don't have to hotwire the son of a bitch. If i can't find them within the next 20 minutes, i'm just wiring it up, i've been dying to ride. Thanks for the help guys!! Quote
