Toomey Banshee Posted August 20, 2006 Report Posted August 20, 2006 My little guy was riding the trails behind my house Thursday evening. Went out at about 700/p or so and was to be home by 8. He left with the neighbors' kids, two boys, about 12, the sister, about 16 and her boyfriend, about 17. He was on the 99 Banshee, which he has ridden for two summers now. I always go with him when he rides, and if I dont my oldest son, who is 17 does. So he leaves and they're at some sand mine in the woods and go on some trail rides. He says he's coming down one trail and the idiot girl cuts him off, never looking or seeing him and just continues on. He turned his wheel to the left , and messed up and hit the front brake and the Banshee went up and over. He flew off and the bike pretty much ran him over, cracked him in the face and rolled over him, knocking him out. The best part was he was there about 10 minutes and it never dawned on the group he was riding with that he wasnt with them. Assholes. A neighbor drove over and told me what happened, I check him and he's ok but the bike is bent up. He trashed the grab bar and handlebars. The rear of the frame that holds the grab bar is bent down at about a 45 degree angle. At the hospital he gets a cat scan and x-rays of his chest and leg, nothing broken. I'm pretty shookin up all night about it. The next morning I pick up the paper and a 41 year old guy from my area is in WV riding, falls off and dies on the spot. Man. Sorry for the rant, but it could have been so much worse and I feel like beating the older kids asses for not checking on the kid. Quote
knight_ripper Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Good rant dad. Glad to hear the boy is ok. 13yr old on a banshee....must have some skills or he probably wouldnt be on the banshee. I can only hope my kids wont be as reckless as I was as a kid. My parents spent WAY TOO many nights in the emergency room. Quote

letsgetthisdone Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I'm a 13 year old on a Banshee and I've never....Wait..Nevermind  Do your parents give you the "You need to slow down speech." I swear that is the worst part about crashin. They let you buy a fast bike (and then let you make even faster) and then tell you to ride it slow. Man thats annoying, but I guess they gotta do it so they can say they tried.....really hard. Quote

ClimbAnyHill Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Better the bike to take the beating than the kid! We all lookout for each other when group riding!! You're right they should have been looking out for him & notice he wasn't in the group!! Quote
