racer Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 maybe strap your generator to the trailer and fire it up as it goes down the road? thats pretty redneck, but cold beer is of the highest priority. Quote
Animalman294 Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Well from my experience our fridges are dual energy, they work off propane or 110 volts. If you plug the trailer in at least three days prior to your trip it will be nice and cold for the trip. If you don't do this you will be using the propane (which isn't as efficient as 110) to freeze and cool down all your beer, er, ah food. Which it will do, but it takes twice as long. I experimented once and by the end of my 4 day trip my ice was freezing and all was good, but during the trip no ice and food was cool. My next trip I started freezing and cooling my trip food with the 110 system, and all the way through my trip I had frozen ice and cold beer............ Bottom line, plug in the trailer at a friends house if you have to, but plug it in at least three days prior to trip................. wesw Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 my fridge will freeze up in like 8-12 hrs. dont think you need to go 3 days. and thats talking beer frosty, and the frozen stuff hard as a rock cold. Quote
dawarriorman Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Yeah, my dad fixed a neighbors propane fridge and if I remember right, it works, just not as quickly as you would want. You want it cold first, and let the propane maintain the coldness. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 9, 2006 Author Report Posted August 9, 2006 yea my 110 will make it cold in a matter of hours... but i drove from san diego to rosarito sp? mexico and it didnt even effect the temp... ill try the pluging in and making it cold then maintaining with the gas see if that works.
