6 Inches from the exhaust side of the piston.

 

Just out of the wetline in the pipe, but no more than 6" away from the piston skirt on the exhaust side.

It depends on what pipes you have . The pipe manufacturer sets that distance.

In all reality, thouhg you only use EGTS as a way of monitering, not seting up an engine. SO what ever the temp is when it is tuned right (piston wash and plug color) just keep that in mind.

got mine at 6 inches. shee was running fine but i saw 1 cylinder spike to 1700+ degrees at wot? needless to say i shut her down at once and checked the plugs and all was ok thank god! took it easy on the way in and never went over 13-1400. now to find the issue!
