OK to powdercoat FMF headers?

I have a pair of FMF Gnarlys on my shee, They are terribly rusted after only 1 year. I usually ride in upstate NY, and camp for about 1 week, so it usually goes that long without being washed. I really want a finish that's going to hold up, but everything is either chrome, or raw.

 

I have a lead on powdercoating, and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to powdercoat hese, will the finish withstand the heat of use? Any other issues I should be worried about?

Also, what would be the best way to prep them for powdercoating, just take some steel wool, or emory cloth to them?

That's what they look like now, also, my lead didn't pan out, anyone know a powdercoater in NJ?

It depends on how hot they get. The high temp powder I have is only good to I think 1200-1300. And

another thing is that they would need to be cleaned on the inside... you imagine the smoke when that gets hot?

Hmmm, I guess it would make sense to clean the onside out before doing it. They guy doing it told me that the powder was rated to 1400+. SO I think it should be ok. Anyone here powdercoat pipes before?

If its rated to 1400 it should be fine. You'll be close, but the EGT would have to be higher than 1400 for the pipes to get that hot, and you'll be blowing a motor at that point.

There is also ceramic coating available, good for a little hp too.
