Purchased a 92 banshee that the seller claimed was a "Stroker 400"

Price was so low I did not care one way or the other...

Took the top end off to poke around and this is what i found.

Cylnder Bore 65.007mm

Piston OD 65.002mm

Pistons marked with the following.. 6388C - Toward the intake

513M06550 Across the middle

Hotrod Crank stamped with CK 121 On the rods

HR 204 On the crank.

Any takers??

You have stock replacement pistons 65.50mm diameter. How are you measuring your bore size and piston size? If you don't have the proper tools and method your numbers don't mean anything. I don't remember the crank numbers off the top of my head but if you didn't have a spacer plate or the head isn't cut (do the pistons come out of the cylinders at top dead center?) then you don't have a stroker.

With a 65.50 piston and a +4mm crank you are only at a 390.87 CC. At 66 you would be 396.86 so rounded up you could say 400 cc. Like Ratbike said do you have a spacer plate under the jugs? Do the pistons come out of the jugs at top dead center. They would only come out about 2 mm without a spacer plate.

Thanks guys...

No spacer plate, no porting, stock head. Base gasket is .270 (inches)

TDC does NOT extend past the cylinder.

Any idea on this crank and it's markings? It looks BRAND new.. I'll take a pic and post it.

What direction should I head for max preformance? Quad will be a shop display bike, ridden maybe 6-10 times a year in open fields. Need it to be reliable, but potent.

Already pulled the jugs for coating, what Mfg. do you suggest for the gasket kit?

The head is pretty rough in the domes, The seller may have grenaded it, had it fixed, then sold it....

He was an older guy into 4x4 quads but wanted a bike to keep up with the kids on Blasters. After the Shee he went to a blaster himself..

Benifits of a "cool head" ???

Thanks, Scott

Sounds like a stock stroke crank. At least it

Call Hot Rods and give them the #s off the rods and crank and they can tell you what they actually fit, weither it's stock stroke( which is what it sounds like) or a stroker.

Base gasket .270 inches = 6.858mm's which would make the pistons a little higher than tdc on stock cylinders with a 4mm stroke and 5mm longer rods. You said "pulled the jugs for coating", what do you mean by this? Is this a monoblock Cheetah, Cheetah Cub, T-rex, Superior Sleeve, FMF, Vitos, or any other brand of cylinder? A standard base gasket is around 0.018-0.020". Either something is fishy with your motor or you don't have accurate tools to measure things.

u could measure the piston throw. Measure from all the way up to all the way down. 108mm would be stock. 116mm=4mm
