RILS Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 How and what do I use to flush out the bottom end? Pistons fried and there are particles in the bottom end. You need to split the cases and get all that stuff out.No amount of flushing imo would give me enough confidence to put my motor back togeather like that.I had a wrist pin bearing bust once and a guy said just flush it out. I split the cases and guess what i found in the crank bearings! Just go ahead and split em it will save you in the future. All it takes is one tiny piece to trash a bearing at 9000rpm. Quote
Hilarious Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 Yeah, it's not that hard to split your cases and clean everything. If you havent had them apart, I can assure you that there isnt anyting that will pop out at ya. As for putting it back together, hadnt done that yet. lol Doesnt look like it would be hard either, tho.  Quote
Bansheeboy850 Posted July 20, 2006 Author Report Posted July 20, 2006 I know I sound stupid but how would you go about splitting them? Quote
dalegoldston Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 You will need a manual and most definitly a fly wheel puller. Just follow the manual and take your time its not to hard to do. Quote
sheefreak Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 You should purchase a clymers. Need a flywheel puller, an impact(or way to hold the clutch hub) and clean the shit out of it before you do it. It is very easy, and everything will stay right were it goes if you just lightly tap on the back motor mount to break the seal of the cases. Once they are free from each other, you can lift the top case right off. Get a clymers though just in case you run into trouble. Besides, you need all the torque specs, and head an cases get tightened in a certain order. The clymers will make sure you have all that info. While you are in there I always replace the seals, and you will need a tube of yama-bond for reassembly. Buy two Quarts of whatever tranny oil you use, and a jug of antifreeze. Another good Idea is to have your crank welded while you have it apart. Then you can bump compression or do whatever mods you may want to do in the future. Quote
Animalman294 Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Everyone who owns a Banshee needs a Clymer's even if after a while you don't need it anymore. It will save you tremendous amounts of money in the long run and time................. Quote

I don't care how much you clean, you will always have shit in your bearings. Just spend the little extra and get new bearings, its good to do anyway when you split your cases. I replace mine any time I split mine, even if its only been a year. I'm anal. Hell, get a 4mm stroker while you are in there. Quote
dalegoldston Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 If you have a couple of extra bills get new crank bearings at least have someone look at them. If you are considering going to a cool head and upping the compression then you will want to get your crank welded and trued with new bearings, probably hot rod rods also. But I lost a piston skirt into the lower case and the bearings were fine. The crank was sent to Jim at Passion to be checked out. Plus what everyone else said. Quote
