Chaalie Mack Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 i put on new rims and tires and as i was unloading the bike to ride i noticed i could wobble the left wheel, i re-torqued the lugs, but it looks like the play is in where the axle connects to the part that has the wheel studs on it, so i guess the question is could the axle nut back enough to allow play even though its pinned? thanks in advance for any info Quote
dajogejr Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 Yep...happens all the time, exactly why the castle nut is there. I don't have my clymers handy, but just torque it to spec, put the cotter pin in and don't worry about it. Quote

fastbanshee8 Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 The hub nuts should be tight, with no play in them. Just make sure that you can get a cotter pin back in the hole, when you tighten up the nut. It can be a hassle getting it tightened down, and lined up to put the cotter pin back in. Quote
[email protected] Posted July 13, 2006 Report Posted July 13, 2006 heres what i would do , lift the back of the banshee up and wiggle the tire up and down in a vertical motion , if ure posotive the weel isnt moving , ure bearings are shot !!!! dont do what i did and rip around the block a few times till u hear scretching sounds and what not , you will end up buying a new carrier . LOL if it's torqued down and it still has play in it, that would be my guess also. try smashing that thing on with an impact gun and see if it still has play. If so, its time to get a new axle or machine some new splines into both parts. Quote
