99mxbanshee Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 A few weeks ago my banshee started cutting out at high rpms and eventually it wouldn't stay running anymore. I checked the stator , pickup coil and the coil. The coil showed to be bad so I replaced it with a nology. It started up right away and seemed like there were no problems. I rode it down the road and it started cutting out again. Today it started up and idled for about 5 min then I started to go and it died before I could get out of the driveway and will not start. It has no spark. Think it might be the cdi? Nobody has another banshee that I could try it on around me. Quote
ssanddemon Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 My first thought is a poor ground off the coil. Do a good check of all electrical connections, make sure the coil mounts cleanly to the frame, and read this:Banshee electrical FAQ Guaranteed, your answer is somewhere in this page, it's very comprehensive. Animalman294 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 You might check the TORS system, because when they go south they do all kinds of funky $hit with your electrical system.......... Quote
99mxbanshee Posted July 11, 2006 Author Report Posted July 11, 2006 Dont have TORS and the nology coil doesn't ground to the frame like the stock coil. Quote
ssanddemon Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Well it grounds somewhere, and that's all I'm saying- check all the chasis grounds first, it's real common to have problems there. It could well be the CDI, but the only test for that is to install a known good one and see what happens. Quote
nitroburner13 Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 i had the same problem with mine not too long ago. it turned out to be the kill switch and the cdi. unplug the kill switch and see if it will run. if not i would guess it would be the cdi. if you replace it go with the dyna fs. Quote
