Hello, i went out and bought myself some used rear tires and rims. The rims where aluminum, and the tires are Dirt Devils. The dirt devils are 22X11X9, and have a lot of tread left on them, and for the riding i do, they will work great. Brought them home and found out the rims fit, so i took them back and im getting new steel rims ordered, no extra charge :baseball_whistle: But my question is, my old tires where 20X12X9, 8 Ply tires. New tires are 22X11X9, 6 Ply. My gearing is 13/40, so im figuring that i will be able to pull these tires pretty good with 13/40. Do you guys think i will be able to pull it good? Nothing done to the shee or power except bored out to 364cc(whatever number that is).

Thanks

Taller tire will give u a lil more top end speed and a lil less accell. I doubt ull even notice. My 2 cents

I'd think the gearing with 22" and 13/40 would be fairly close to 14/41 with 20" rears like current stock bikes, but I may be wrong. I'd also agree that weight would be the biggest factor with a minor change like yours. If you did notice it was geared a little higher, add a couple of teeth to the rear sprocket for a cheap fix. Yea 22", 13/40 is like 20" 14/41. If need be i will put a 14 back on(but probably not) because im doing a lot of hillclimbing around here and trails. Like when i had 20" i was doing 90-95 km/h, and once i get the 22" on ill go and see, according to a calculation thingy i should be doing around 115-120 km/h(around 9000RPM). So the extra speed is nice, just was wondering if the extra weight(maybe like 5 pounds?, not even) will ware down the sprockets more than usual, or not really?

And my friend on his Tri-Z was doing around 130 km/h with his stock 22's and he went down to 20" and he runs around 110 km/h now.

I don't think the extra weight will make much difference on sprocket wear if you use steel sprockets. Your tires probably aren't much, if any heavier than stock radials so I wouldn't worry about it much. It would be hard for anyone to know for sure how your setup will work since rider bodyweight comes into play too. As far as your speed, if you can't tell by riding it you can always use a GPS. I don't drag, so I'm not worried about top speed and usually go by feel for trails and playing around. Trial and error I guess.

I understand all what you are saying differentstrokes  And yea when i cruise around from place to place, top speed is no biggy for me, cause i as well do not drag, misewell have a good time everywhere else right? Thanks for all your help guys!!
