hollisatp Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 (edited) Just how does advancing or retarding your timing give you more power? I heard that this makes it hard to start sometimes? I found one on e-bay for $35. Good price? Also does anyonehave any feedback on the Powernow intake valves? Edited July 7, 2006 by hollisatp Quote
decon Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 what it does is advance the ignition timing so it fires earlier than it regularly should...sort of giving you more compression/bottom end. Quote
Shee-Male Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 and visa versa when retarding it. Going to far can make it hard to start. +4-5 degrees is usually common for some extra go go. The plates are approx 35 new from ricky stator, or you can elongate the holes in your stock one. Do a search and you'll find lots of info and pics on how to mod one. Quote
hollisatp Posted July 7, 2006 Author Report Posted July 7, 2006 awesome! So definately worth the $$? Average hp gain? Any opinions on modifying my timing plate vs buying one? Quote
dawarriorman Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 For $35 I think its worth the money. And Id get the plate over modding, just for the peace of mind of knowing how much advance you're running instead of guessing. Quote
ssanddemon Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Ditto. I modded the plate on my spare shee and it was a pain in the ass. Got the RS on my main ride and it is lots nicer with the marks in it and etc. Quote
