3ban5shee0 Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 my buddy owns a 95 gt mustang with the 5.0 302 in it anyways when he bought it the tranny grinded second so he bought a used t5 trannsmission, new cobra mustang clutch because the gt clutch couldnt take the extra hp it camme with the throwout bearing and pilot bearing witch we changed, and a new fly wheel from ford racing anyways we changed the tranny the clutch and flywheel put it in the car and now it makes a squealing noise only when the clutch is engaged so if he pushes the clutch petal it quits so its either the throwout bearing, pilot bearing, or the bearing in the tranny. were not sure what it is any ideas were going to the flashlight drags sat and we need to get it fixed. thanks for any help, justin Quote

RILS Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Im not sure what the squilling is it sounds like the throw out bearing.The cobra clutches from ford are not anygood imo.I had a 98corbra that was very lightly moded exhaust,378gears and some other little stuff I went thourgh 3 clutches and a tranny in 3 months the only tjing i could get to hold up decent was a centerforce setup. PLAYRR2000 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 It is the throw out bearing. I also have a 95 GT, and I have gone through this exact issue when I upgraded my clutch. He needs to get an adjustable clutch quadrant (I think that is the technical name for it). Basically, it will make the clutch adjustable, so that you will be able to preload it just far enough to get the bearing to stop chirping. The stock piece is just that, a piece. Supposedly, if you pull up on the clutch pedal, it will make a slight adjustment, but it didn't do anything on mine. If he continues to use it the way it is, it will trash the bearing. Brandon Quote

Brandon that quadarent you are talking about is plastic & it is adj. to adj it you push the clutch in and pull it all the way up. but most times it does not help. if you go to any race shop you can get an adj cable for about $100.00 it comes with a alum piece to replace the plastic quadrent. pedal feels great atfer that. had to do it after installing a ram setup on mine. good luck.
