Hey i just got my first banshee, its stock, im a Dune rider, and was wondering what mixing ratio u guys would recommend for Yamalube 2-R? the yamaha dealer here (North Bend, OR) says mix 40:1. I got about 10 hours on it now and ive been using that ratio. is this a good mix to stick with or should i change it for the next ride?

hmmm... i'd stick with 32:1 with 2-r just to be on the safe side for your engine. i usually fill up my 5gal jug with 4 gal and drop a 16oz bottle of 2-r in it = 32:1

I mix my 2-R at 32:1 as well, but recently I picked up my clymers manual and it says to mix 2-R at 24:1 who is right I have no idea.

24:1 is pretty rich. i stuck with it for the initial break in when i bought my shee new for a few tanks. the oil was actually dripping out my tailpipes. so i switched to 32:1 and never looked back. that was about 5 years ago.

manuals will tell you to mix on the rich side so that they are not held responsible for your motor blowing up if you would follow them telling you to mix 50:1 for example.

besides, who are you gonna trust, the experts at the hq :notworthy: , or some stupid manual

The only reason I ask is because my 2000 shee with T-5 pipes and a K&N smokes blue exhaust pretty good, even when warm. I know they are supposed to smoke but not sure how much. Was wondering if I was running to much oil in my gas
